Sunday Reading V.3

Howwwwdayyyyy! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I’m packing two weeks worth of Sunday reading into one as I missed last week when I was in Florida. It was a great trip; I went down to the Fort Meyers area with family. We mostly just lounged by the pool, but also ate a lot (per usual.) Made it to a few of my favorite places, Trulucks and Roy’s. I finished two books, did a little shopping and went stand-up paddle boarding ( I attempted doing yoga on the board and promptly fell in the water, my sincerest apologies that was not caught on camera.)  It was just the relaxing weekend I needed.

This past week was jam-packed. I did a galentines date for Valentine’s Day  and it was so fun! We got dinner at Drake’s and watched the UK/UT game then went to see the new 50 Shades movie. I’m not a die-hard, but it’s certainly not the kind of movie you get bored from, haha! My momma got me macarons for the day as well, so all in all not a bad VDay for this single gal! Otherwise this week consisted of work events and a few workouts, much needed after vacation!

The cutest (and tasty) lil mini donuts from Metropolitan Donuts & Coffee

The theme of my weekend was food. I started with happy hour at Drake’s and then did Mexican for a friend’s birthday on  Friday. Brunch at Wild Eggs Saturday and Local’s on Sunday. I’m also pet-sitting (check out my insta story for more on that) in Beaumont, which gave me the chance to finally check out Lyle’s BBQ and Metropolitan Donuts & Coffee, since I’m never usually on this side of town. Both were bomb and I’ll definitely be back.

So much brunch. Breakfast Nachos at Local’s hit the spot.

Ended the weekend with a mini photoshoot. I needed a headshot and luckily, my best friend and roomie is an uber-talented photographer, so we snuck in a few shots on the porch! Maybe I’ll share a  few more later…

In my natural habitat, eating ice cream. Appropriate for a headshot, right?

Relaxing in the sun in Florida last week, 100%.

Learning of the passing of someone gone too soon. Hug your loved ones extra this week!

Links I Loved

Chocolate-Dipped Maple Bacon Roses. Your Valentine (or you) need these.

Alert – there are Oreo Cadbury Creme Eggs coming soon. Caramel Cadbury Eggs are one of my favorite things, I can only imagine how tasty the Oreo ones are!

Bon App did an interesting piece on how four different people, from a food blogger to chef to college student, would spend $30 at Whole Foods to eat for a week. I was skeptical knowing how expensive a Whole Foods trip can be, but actually took a few tips away from this for bargain grocery shopping!

One of my favorite bloggers, Grace Atwood of The Stripe, shared an easy DIY for tassel earrings I want to try. I’m usually pretty wary of DIYs, but these seemed pretty fool proof and almost identical to an expensive pair I’ve been eying but can’t bring myself to buy! I’ll let y’all know if I try.

This visual guide for seasoning combinations is super helpful! I have a fairly expansive spice collection for a 24 year old, but find myself always using familiar favorites. This definitely gave me a few ideas to ‘spice’ it up.. ha, had to, sorry!

This chart for how long you can freeze everything from meat to veggies to baked goods is SO HANDY!

Quote of the Week

“Whisk me away.” A combo of VDay and wanderlust feels. My goal for this week is to book a trip for my 25th birthday, very possibly to Southeast Asia! I’ll keep you posted! Have a great week,  y’all 🙂

Biscuits & blessings,

Leels
