Hi friends! Have a drink recipe for you today. I hosted a baby shower last weekend for a sweet coworker expecting a baby boy in just a few weeks. I wanted to serve a drink that could be enjoyed with or without alcohol, so that momma could partake too 😉 Since we were celebrating a baby boy, blueberry lemonade seemed appropriate!
This lemonade gets its fizz and ginger flavor from ginger beer, which is nonalcoholic, although you can find alcoholic ginger beer if that’s your style! The blueberry simple syrup is super easy to make and can be made ahead of time. I served my lemonade in a beverage dispenser with vodka on the side. I added fresh blueberries and lemon slices as garnish and it looked so cute! Check out the recipe below.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cup lemon juice
- 7 cups water
- 1 liter (or 2 cups) ginger beer
- optional fresh blueberries and lemon slices for garnish
Directions
- Make blueberry simple sryup: add sugar and one cup water to a saucepan over medium heat and whisk until sugar dissolves. Add blueberries and bring to a boil then reduce heat to simmer until blueberries start to break down, about five minutes. Let simple syrup completely cool.
- Add simple syrup, lemon juice, six cups of cold water and ginger beer to a pitcher and stir to combine.
- Serve over ice and garnish with blueberries and lemon if desired.
The blueberry lemonade was a hit at the shower and it was so nice that guests could serve themselves so I didn’t have to worry about making someone a cocktail as they walked in the door. I took the leftovers to a UK football tailgate in a mason jar, so this could be a great game day recipe too! If you’re into batched cocktails, check out this Mint Julep Iced Tea as well.
Biscuits & blessings,
