Hi friends! I’ve got a recipe I think y’all are going to love. You went so crazy for my Sausage Cheddar Pinwheels last year, that I wanted to come up with a similarly easy and delicious sausage recipe. Enter Cheesy Sausage Squares. Sausage, cheese, tomatoes and chilies sandwiched between flaky crescent roll dough. It makes a delicious appetizer or snack, but you could also cut them into larger pieces for a fun dinner for the fam!
I’m excited to partner with Odom’s Tennessee Pride Country Sausage again to bring you this recipe. I turn to Odom’s for high quality fresh pork made with a family secret spice blend that adds great flavor to any recipe. You can count on Odom’s Tennessee Pride Country Sausage for a hearty breakfast, but I also love incorporating it into recipes appropriate for all times of day, like these Cheesy Sausage Squares.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground sausage
- 1/2 cup canned diced tomatoes and green chilies, drained
- 8oz block cream cheese
- 2 cans crescent roll dough
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375
- Heat pan over medium-high heat, add sausage and break into crumbles, cooking until no longer pink
- Finely dice tomatoes and chilies
- Turn heat down to medium, drain pan, and add tomatoes and chilies, stirring to combine
- Add cream cheese to pan and stir until melted and fully combined
- Remove sausage mixture from heat
- Spray a 9×11 baking dish with nonstick spray
- Spread one of the crescent roll doughs in the bottom of the pan, pinching seams together so you have a flat sheet
- Spread sausage mixture over the dough
- Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the sausage mixture
- Spread the remaining can of crescent roll dough over top of the cheese, pinching seams together so you have a flat sheet
- Bake for 20-24 minutes until golden brown
- Let cool for at least ten minutes before cutting into squares and serving
I made these for a brunch last week and am already itching to make them again! I think they would be a great tailgate snack and will also probably become a go-to for holiday entertaining. Yum! To make it easier – you can now buy crescent sheets – so no seams!!
