How to Give Back

As we prepare for a big meal, I also you to encourage you to consider how you can help those who many not know where their next meal is coming from. Here are a few local causes you can support this Thanksgiving.

My employer, Bluegrass Hospitality Group offers a meal for those in need on Thanksgiving Day. You can donate towards the meal or goodie bags for attendants.

God’s Pantry is assembling over 5,000 Thanksgiving food baskets on November 16 and delivering baskets to seniors on November 18. You can participate or donate here.

My childhood church, First Presbyterian, is assembling food baskets to distribute to local agencies in Lexington like The Nest and Greenhouse 17. You can participate or donate here.

Southland Church hosting God’s Pantry’s Sharing Thanksgiving program and is taking volunteers. This event will serve over 4,000 families by providing food for a Thanksgiving meal, and there are opportunities for volunteers age 16 and up to help out on Nov 25th and 26th. Lighthouse Ministries serves meals to homeless and low income members of the community. You can learn more and support them here.

Who’s ready for the turkey?! Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions you’re looking forward to? We have Sausage Pinwheels while watching the parade, which may be my favorite part. Or my mom’s Italian Creme Cake and my Mimi’s Lemon Icebox Pie. Let me know if I’m missing any local places with great Thanksgiving offerings and I hope y’all have a great holiday! Eat some turkey for me 😉

Biscuits & blessings,
