Y’all. I cannot believe it’s November already. Like I’m positive I just wrote this post for October a week ago… I’m already a little overwhelmed with work, personal life, trying to keep up with the blog… and now we’ve got the holidays coming! I love the holiday season and want to be able to enjoy it all, but I’m in this phase of life where work is really demanding and I’m working really hard to build blog content and my gift basket business. I don’t like to promote working all the time, but there’s not anything I can take off my plate at the moment without giving up something that I really want to do. So I’ve accepted that life is going to be kinda crazy right now, and am just making the most of it. I’m hoping to hire someone to work part time for Lex Eats in the new year, which will help a lot. It’s all exciting stuff! Anywho, here are my five fun things for October!
What I’m Reading
I read a few books in October! I finally read Where The Crawdads Sing.. and it lived up to the hype. I was worried that it wouldn’t be worth it, but it totally was and I was really rooting for the main character. I don’t want to give too much away, but the story will draw you in and keep you on your toes. I also read Nantucket Nights by Elin Hilderbrand and was not a fan. It was my first book of hers and I feel like I chose the wrong one. The storyline was way too messed up for me.. affairs and minors involved.. I just couldn’t get behind it. So many people recommended her books, I’ll still give another one a shot.
What I’m Loving
I can’t believe it took me this long to buy a meat masher (the name.. I know). This tool makes cooking ground beef/turkey so much easier! It breaks it up in a few seconds. Perfect for making chili, tacos, meat sauce you name it. I’ve been burning a new Capri Blue scent, Coconut Santal, and am loving it. Fall clothing-wise, I picked up this target balloon sleeve blouse in black and the white check print. It’s the perfect work or weekend shirt and the material is great, doesn’t wrinkle much. I also found this gem of a dress at Walmart for $24. I also got and love these flowy corduroy pants and this top.
What I’m Watching
Like the rest of you, I got sucked into Squid Games on Netflix. In case you missed it, these people play a ‘game’ to win lots of millions of dollars, but the catch is if you lose you die. I don’t like dark or gory shows, but I didn’t hate this. The story line is pretty messed up, but you get drawn into the characters and trying to figure out who’s hosting the game that it didn’t feel too dark for me. It also wasn’t super gory. Also in case you need a pre-holiday movie marathon.. I’ve also watched The Holiday and Serendipity on Netflix last month!
What I’m Listening To
TBH I just haven’t been in a podcast mood lately. I’m not sure if I listened to a single one in October.
Where I’m Giving
Dave and I gave to our friend’s American Cancer Society fundraiser this month. I also became a monthly partner of Catalytic Ministries, which supports the underground church in Afghanistan.
