Happy Valentine’s friends! You know I’m all about any holiday that gives us an excuse for sugar. Dave and I usually cook dinner together on Valentine’s Day. We’re pretty laid back and don’t do big gifts or anything, but I will probably pick him up a little sweet treat, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite Lexington bakeries and candy shops in case you’re in need of something sweet for Vday too 😉 PS: if you’re looking for a non-edible gift, check out my Galentine’s Gift Guide.
BabyCakes Cupcakes
Because who doesn’t love a cupcake?! BabyCakes has a ton of flavors, I love the strawberry. Note that they are currently doing pre-orders only.
Backroads Bakery
This is the very best cheesecake in Lexington! They are also offering hot chocolate bombs and conversation heart cheesecakes.
Crank & Boom
They obviously have amazing ice cream, but Crank & Boom makes fun treats too! They are selling special Valentine’s flavors (Chocolate Hazelnut, Irish Cream Dream, Non-Dairy Cherry Amaretto and Raspberry Sorbet) and boozy hot chocolate! If you’re out of town, or want to send some love to out of towners, Crank & Boom is also available to ship nationwide.
Donut Days Bakery
BC VDAY donuts are definitely a thing. Donut Days usually also makes special Valentines cookies!
Faith Bakes
This baker has pop up shop at Lex Local Market. She’s offering chocolate covered treats, fudge, hot cocoa bombs, cupcakes, cakes and cookie decorating kits.
The Futile Bakery
This local bakery makes the most amazing cinnamon rolls! They usually also have special cookies, scones and other treats.
Gluten Free Miracles
Because gluten free friends need treats too! This local bakery is offering cakes, cake bites and cookies.
Habibi’s Sweets & Pastries
Habibi’s is a Middle Eastern bakery. If you like baklava you will love it! They have gift boxes of assorted pastries that would make a great gift.
European Delights Bakery
A delicious European bakery in Brannon Crossing that offers a wide variety of cakes, cookies, pastries and baked treats. They are making special red velvet whoopie pies, heart cakes, chocolate covered strawberries and raspberry meringue cups for the holiday.
La Petite Delicat
Macarons are one of my all time favorite sweets. La Petite Delicat is making the cutest mini heart macaron cakes. Dave, if you are reading this (I’m sure he’s not) this is what I want. They also have Valentine’s macaron gift boxes and heart cakes.
Laura Lou Patisserie
This bakery in Greyline Station is offering a Valentine’s treat box filled with chocolate truffles, mini poptarts, popcorn, cocoa bomb, cookies and macarons. They’re also offering a take home afternoon tea for two box!
Magee’s Bakery
I’ve been going to Magee’s since I was a child and love just about everything they make. My only complaint is that they stopped making cakes and taking custom orders.. but they always have treats already packaged and ready for sale around holidays. Fingers crossed they make heart iced cookies.
Martine’s Pastries
Martine’s is another one of my favorites.. I dream about their smores bars! They have delicious cake (get the pistachio) and other baked goods. They usually make Valentine’s cookies.
Midway Bakery
Ouita Michael’s bakery, they make delicious cookies and pies! Midway Bakery is offering a special Valentine’s cookie box for local pick-up or shipping.
Mondelli’s Bakeshop
Mondelli’s bakes cakes, cookies, cupcakes, petit fours and usually has plenty of Vday themed treats. Since Magee’s stopped doing cakes, this is the closest I’ve been able to find to their buttercream!
Natalia’s Pastry Shop
This vendor at Julietta Market makes the most delicious empanadas, but also pastries! She hasn’t posted Valentine’s specials yet, but often makes cheesecake, flan, cakes, cinnamon rolls and more.
Nothing Bundt Cakes
I swear these are some of the best cakes in town. They are so moist and the icing is delicious. They make mini “bundtlets” and bite size “bundtinis” that are perfect for treating your boo!
Old Kentucky Chocolates
I love their chocolate covered potato chips! They’re usually make chocolate covered strawberries and grapes for Valentine’s Day.
Sorella Gelateria
Sorella is making authentic Italian semifredo cakes. A half cold creamy cake made with the same fresh ingredients that go into their gelato available in several flavors.
Ruth Hunt Candies
BC you can’t have enough chocolate. Ruth Hunt has a vast selection of Valentine’s treats.
Tinker’s Cake Shop
I did this last year for Valentine’s Day and it was so fun! A cake tasting box of Tinker’s delicious wedding cakes including 16 different flavors! $20 per box.
