Alrighty guys, about a month late, I’m finally sharing my FASTer Way to Fat Loss experience! A while back I shared that I was starting a seven week fat loss bootcamp, which you can read about here, and I promised that I would share my final results with you. If I’m being completely honest, I would say that I seriously only completed five weeks of the program. I traveled for work several times, went on vacation in Hilton Head and was in Haiti for a week during the bootcamp, so I didn’t keep up with everything while on the go. I will say it is doable to follow this program while traveling (except for in a third world country..) I usually still fasted while traveling, was able to do the workouts from the program in the hotel gym and could find meals eating out/pack snacks that fit into my macros. But when I was on vacation I decided to take a few days off and enjoy the ice cream and lobster rolls 😉

My FASTer Way to Fat Loss Results

Overall, I lost ten pounds and definitely some inches (I’m the worst and forgot to write down my inches before). You can see from my before and after pics below, I think I lost some from my stomach. Before the bootcamp, I was at the point where my pants almost didn’t fit – my stomach was rolling over and basically I refused to buy a bigger size – and they fit so much better now. Aside from looks, I feel physically much stronger. I am lifting 15 pound weights when I used to lift 8 or 10 pounds (hand weights for something like biceps or shoulders). I’ve gone on a two mile run twice in the past week, when I used to not be able to make it a mile without having to stop.

The Aftermath

So how am I doing several weeks out? Not too shabby! I am certainly not religiously following the program, but for the most part I have been intermittent fasting, doing two low carb days, working out 4-5 times a week and trying to apply the things I learned about balancing your macros when choosing my meals. I think my biggest takeaway from this program was the education! I seriously did not realize alllll the things that are hidden carbs. I thought that my salads or lunches without bread were low carb without realizing all the fruit/vegetables/dressing I was adding all had carbs. The workouts were easy to follow and I learned about pairing your workouts with your diet to get the best results.

Y’all know that food is my life, and I would not say I felt deprived. Again, I am not the best example and did not follow 100%, but even giving 75% effort was able to get results while still enjoying my favorite foods. The carb cycling allows you to eat more fat on your low carb days, and then get your carb cravings in on your regular days, so you really don’t go without!

I loved the program so much that I’m going to start a second round next Monday, August 13! My coach, Valarie Smorol, has actually started her own program called T.R.I.M. Fat Loss Bootcamp that applies the same concepts with added nutritional information, custom meal planning and a macro cookbook with over 700 recipes. I’m so excited to see all that Val has added! I’m probably most excited that she switched low calorie days so that they’re not on Friday, because that never worked for me, HA! If you have any questions about the program I’d be happy to answer. I’d love for y’all to join me for the next round use code LEXEATS for $10 off- if you are let me know and I’d be happy to share some tips as well! Val also has a postpartum program if any new mamas are interested check it out here.

(low carb) biscuits & blessings,

Leels

Hey Leela! You look great but I thought you did before the program! Do you mind me asking approximately how much it costs and are you allowed to drink alcohol on it? Thanks!

    • Hi Lisa! Thank you 🙂 The program is $199 and you can drink as long as it fits in your macros! Val and Kate have suggestions for what drinks are best!

  2. You look amazing, Leela!! Great job ❤️

  3. Hello, I did FWTWL and totally blew it. I’m thinking of restarting though. My biggest thing is the work outs. I currently to Orange Theory which doesn’t really fit the program. How do you feel about Amanda’s work outs, are they that good? It scares me to give up OT for six weeks.

    • Hi Fran! I actually did FWTFL with a local coach, who now has her own program TRIM (same idea but with added nutritional info and more variety of workouts.) I mix in workout classes where they fit – like orange theory could probabaly work on low carb days for your fasted cardio! I will do strength training classes for regular macro days and kickboxing for fasted cardio. I love my coaches workouts though and was surprised I ended up doing those more than I thought.

  4. Hey! What are you thoughts on TRIM vs. FWTFL? I keep researching both and struggling to decide between the two!

    • Hey Brittany, there’s not too much of a difference – I’ve done both and have very similar philosophies. TRIM has added a third low carb day and following this preparing for my wedding I have lost more weight than my round of FWTFL, but I’ve also probably been a bit more intense because of the wedding! BC Val (TRIM) owns TRIM she is able to provide you with a lot of assets, like a meal planning program.
