Five Fun Things: June 2023

Y’all I truly don’t know what happened to May. I was talking to a coworker yesterday about something happening in mid June and said something about only have a month to do it, and she reminded me it was actually like two weeks, ha! I am so excited for summer. I am a summer person. I just feel like everything is more fun, I love the weather, the pool.. and we tend to do more fun things during the week during the summer but with more daylight it almost feels like you have more time? Like summer time is just different, you know? Anywho, sharing my five fun things from this month below!

What I’m Reading

I finished Midnight Train to Prague, a historical fiction set in Eastern Europe spanning through both world wars following a girl, Natalia, into adulthood. I love historical fiction, especially WWII, but this wasn’t my favorite. The story was intriguing and kept you interested, but I found it hard to follow at times and just didn’t have as emotional a connection to the characters that I normally would. I also started Where the Grass is Green and Girls are Pretty, which I picked up because I like the author for a fun fluffy read. It’s set off of the recent college admission scandals, with a famous news anchor bending the rules to get her daughter into Princeton. I’m liking it so far, but wouldn’t say it’s a love. I thought about putting it down but now I want to see what happens so I’m going to finish!

Recent Obsessions

I bought these slides from Target and I love them! I think they look like a much more expensive designer leather sandal, but are only $25. Honorable mention for these raffia slides that I got too and love, but think I’m going to return because I already have a similar pair. I’m also loving this pleated tennis skort from Old Navy ($36.99, currently 30% off). I bought it in white and loved it so much I ordered black too. Lastly, as much as it pains me to say it, I’m obsessed with the Dior Lip Glow Oil. I bought it during the Sephora sale after several recommendations. I wish I didn’t love a $40 lip gloss, but it really is that good. The gloss does go on more like oil so it’s not sticky and has great pigmentation of color. I got the shade berry. If you’re looking for a cheaper option, I do love this $4 gloss, you just have to apply often.

What I’m Watching

Like everyone else, I’m mourning that Succession is over. I have to say, I actually liked the ending! I would have loved for the three siblings to come out on top running things (as flawed as they are, I know), but in a way I think Shiv doing what she did could actually lead to that? Like she definitely saved her brothers from themselves, right? IDK. Dave and I just watched Nate Bargatze’s specials on Netflix and now I’m obsessed with him. He’s funny in a really relatable way. I don’t really mind when comedians cuss, but appreciate a comic that’s really funny without saying the f word every other word. I also watched Queen Charlotte, the newest in the Bridgerton series all about Queen Charlotte’s origin story. It’s actually pretty sweet, but less of a love story in the typical Bridgerton way.. it has a bit more substance and soul. I really enjoyed it, but just warning you it’s not as *spicy* as the others, ha!

What I’m Listening Too

As mentioned above, I’m newly obsessed with Nate Bargatze, so I started his Nateland podcast from the beginning and am loving it. It’s him and two other comics just kind of chatting about random topics.

Where I’m Giving

This month we gave to the American Heart Association in honor of a friend!
