I hosted a baby shower for a coworker expecting a baby boy a few weeks ago and when I gave a sneak peek of the decorations on Instagram stories, y’all seemed interested to see how it turned out! The baby nursery is alpaca and succulent themed, which seemed like the perfect theme for a shower. TBH, I’m not sure if llamas and alpacas are exactly the same, but it was really hard to find alpaca decorations, so we just went with llama 😉
Most of the decorations came from Amazon, starting with this cactus bunting. I hung it on the mantle and layered with a gold ‘Oh Baby’ balloon banner.
I also found a llama and cactus garland and cake topper set. The garland went on a cart in my kitchen and I used the cake toppers on cupcakes.
These llama plates matched the theme perfectly. For food we stayed pretty simple: a fruit tray, veggie tray, pimento cheese and chicken tenders. The mama of honor loves funfetti, so I made Sally’s Baking Addiction funfetti cupcakes and topped them with blue sprinkles. Sally is my go to for dessert recipes; they’re always so tasty. I wanted a beverage that could be enjoyed with or without alcohol, so I came up with this blueberry ginger sparkling lemonade and served it with vodka on the side.
For games we played the standard guess how big mom’s belly is. I also found a few games on Etsy, baby name race and Disney parent match (mom is a big Disney fan). I just downloaded the file from Etsy and printed these at home – they were also llama and cactus themed! The same seller makes a printable “advice for mom”, which I had all the moms at the shower fill out for our guest of honor to take home. For prizes I went with mini succulents from Trader Joe’s and put one of the llama toppers in them.
This was so fun to put together and everyone seemed to have a great time! We are anxiously awaiting for baby boy to arrive any day now. I know this type of post is a little different than usual so I hope y’all enjoyed. Feel free to leave any feedback in the comments below!
Biscuits & blessings,
