It’s finally feeling like fall! As the temperatures drop and it gets darker in the morning it gets harder to get out of bed when the alarm rings. I’m partnering with my friends at Bigelow Tea to share my cozy morning routine that makes the 6am wake-up call so much easier. I fell in love with the ritual of tea when I studied abroad in Oxford, England. We had tea with breakfast, after dinner, and there were even tea kettles in our dorm rooms. I love how tea can be a social experience or a time to just take a moment for yourself throughout the work day. Drinking tea has become an essential part of my routine; I drink it every morning to start my day, as an afternoon pick me up, and decaf to relax at night.

I love Bigelow Tea for their ‘Tea Proudly’ motto: “sharing everything we are proud of that gives consumers the reassurance they are making the right choice and are in the know.” I know I can depend on Bigelow for quality tea and ingredients manufactured in the US that is always fresh because of their foil packaging. I also love that it’s a third-generation run family business. When I was last at Kroger I stocked up on their new Benefits line to keep me energized this fall! Hover over the photo below and click through to check out the Bigelow Benefits Tea offerings.

The Bigelow Benefits line features everyday teas that fuel your body with good for you ingredients. I love the Lean and Fit Citrus & Oolong, Refresh Turmeric Chili Matcha Green Tea and Focus Moringa & Black Tea. A comforting cup of tea has become an essential part of my morning routine, check it out below!

My Fall Morning Routine

  1. My alarm goes off around 5:45am. I typically let myself snooze for 15 minutes and try and be out of bed at 6am. I know people say you shouldn’t snooze, but to me it’s such a luxurious feeling to linger just a few minutes in bed.
  2. I get up and put on slippers that I leave right by my bed. I find it’s much easier to get out of bed when it’s cold if my feet are warm and toasty! I head to the kitchen and put on my tea kettle. While it’s warming up I drink a glass of room temperature water with the juice of half a lemon, which is great for digestion.
  3. I like to start off with green tea. I’ve been loving the Bigelow Benefits Turmeric Chili Matcha Green Tea, which has ingredients to refresh your system. I take my tea and head to the couch, or sometimes get back in bed.
  4. I start my “quiet time” with a devotional and prayer. Then I write down ten things I am grateful for and ten personal goals. I write my goals in the present tense, for example “I travel internationally once a year” is one of my goals. I write down the same goals everyday. I stole this practice from Rachel Hollis, a motivational speaker/author. A lot has been said about manifesting your goals by writing them in the present tense as if they have already happened.
  5. I try really hard to not get on my phone before I complete the above steps, because it’s too easy to get sucked down the rabbit hole. After I do my quiet time, I scan my work email to get an idea of what’s coming for me when I get to the office. I then check my personal email and Instagram. Often I’ll have things to post in the morning or will just spend some time checking my feed and engaging with other people’s posts.
  6. I’m usually through my first cup of tea at this point, so I head to make another before I start getting ready for work. I like to switch to black tea for my second cup, like Bigelow Benefits Moringa and Black Tea. It has moringa, ashwaganda and tumeric to aid in brain health and focus. I’ll finish this while I get ready and then head out the door!

I feel like I should put a disclaimer out that this routine is my ideal morning, but certainly doesn’t happen every morning 😉 I’m not immune to snoozing too long or getting sucked into my phone. But I do find that I have a much better day if I start my mornings this way. I love being able to savor my cup of tea without feeling rushed. Carving out a little cozy time just for myself before I spend all day at the office puts me in a great mood and helps me feel like I’ve already accomplished something before 8am. If you’re not a morning person I encourage you to try waking up even 30 minutes earlier a few times a week for some time all to yourself.
