So I got one message on Instagram asking me to share my skincare routine and here we are. “So many of you are asking about my skincare routine…” is a pretty common meme in the blog world, BUT I did actually get asked about my skincare routine and I have zero shame in sharing ๐
I put a lot of effort into skincare leading up to the wedding. I wanted that bridal “glow” everyone talks about. First, I tried extra hard to actually wash my face every night and morning, even if I was out late and would normally just use a face wipe. I also made sure I was regularly washing my makeup brushes. I typically drink a lot of water, but I made the consicous effort in trying to get half my body weight in ounces of water every day. I also started drinking goop Glow every morning.
As far as products, I’ve been using Tula for almost a year. Before I had just been using drugstore brand skincare. I had heard so much about Tula I decided to give it a shot and have been obsessed since. I can see a noticeable difference in the tone and brightness of my skin, as well as fewer breakouts. I love the products so much I just became an affiliate, so you can get 20% off your Tula purchase with the code LEXEATS. I use the Tula Purifying Face Cleanser, Tula Acne Clearing & Tone Correcting Gel and Tula Probiotic Skincare Aqua Infusion Oil-Free Gel Cream. You can actually buy all three in a set for a discount here. Don’t forget to use the code LEXEATS for 20% off! I use the cleanser every night and *most* mornings, the acne gel every morning and night after washing my face and applying toner, and then The Ordinary’s “Buffet” Serum, a kind of all around vitamin and anti-aging serum. The aqua infusion cream is the last step in my morning routine. At night I use a night cream with retinol.. tbh I always buy a random different one at the drugstore as long as it has retinol.
I also love a good at home mask. I started using this Ordinary Salicylic mask once or twice a week closer to the wedding when I was more prone to stress breakouts. I could actually feel the product working, drying out my skin, but not in a bad way. I also love Tula’s Major Glow Cooling and Brightening Gel Mask, which I used the week of the wedding and before some showers and big events. I used this Dr G Aqua Collagen Mask on the morning of the wedding, it’s my favorite for events because I feel like I can actually see it plump up my skin and actual feel the moisturizing. And it’s $23 for a 10 pack – I got one for all of my bridesmaids too!
As far as treatments go, I have been doing Prive’s Club for the last year and a half. It is a monthly membership; for $59 you get microdermabrasion, a chemical peel or a custom facial. I usually do a chemical peel, and feel like I can see a noticeable difference in the tone and brightness of my skin afterwards. Plus it’s my favorite day of the month, the spa is so relaxing, their treatment tables are super warm and cozy and I love my esthetician (ask for Megan!) If you’re local to Lexington and decide to check out Prive, you can mention my name and I’ll get a referral credit – not sponsored, they offer this to all their clients! I did my last chemical peel a few weeks before the wedding since we didn’t want to risk any redness closer to. I got an exfoliating facial at Fizz Facial Bar the week before wedding week and then did a hydrafacial at Hourglass the Tuesday of wedding week. Typing all that out makes me feel a little extra, ha, but it was a big day ๐
I obviously had a little help on wedding day. Dana of Blush + Glow did my hair and makeup and I could not have been happier. We did a trial where I showed her a few photos from Pinterest of what I was thinking and she totally got me. I must also mention all photos are by our lovely wedding photographers, the Malicotes. If youโre interested in more about our wedding check out this post on planning, this post about my wedding dress and attire, this post on Kentucky-themed wedding welcome bags, my wedding fitness and nutrition routine, and this post on how I asked my bridesmaids. More next week!
Biscuits & blessings,
Leels
