Where to Shop Local in Lexington, KY

It’s no secret.. I love to shop! I always share guides around the holidays with local gift ideas, but figured it was time for a permanent where to shop in Lexington blog post! Check out the categories below with where to shop for gifts and accessories, home goods, clothing, children and pets. There’s definitely some overlap in categories, but I tried to include the main offerings. I’m always looking for something new, if I left your favorite shop out, let me know in the comments below!

Where to Shop in Lexington for Gifts & Accessories

The Amsden

Technically in Versailles, but this coffee shop and marketplace is worth the drive! The mercantile has finds from over 20 local artists and makers. Emily, the owner, also usually has some vintage items and fresh florals. Think prints, home decor, jewelry, candles and more. 

The Barrel Market

120 Summit At Fritz Farm #155, Lexington, KY 40517

The Barrel Market features unique, hand-crafted pieces made from bourbon barrels and staves, like shelves and boxes that hold bourbon bottles. Many pieces can be customized.

The Black Market

516 E High St, Lexington, KY 40502

This was my favorite boutique in high school. The Black Market has a mix of clothing, accessories and gifts. They call themselves “vintage inspired”, it’s definitely more of an artsy feel.

Coffee Times

A great coffee shop, but also Coffee Times is one of my fav spots for gifts! They offer bagged coffee and tea, lots of cute mugs and coffee accessories, but also fun knick knacks, ornaments, journals, etc. 

Henry Dry Goods where to shop in Lexington

Henry Dry Goods

Henry Dry Goods makes the most amazing custom bags, pillows, clothing and even masks these days! Their studio is open on weekdays, but you can also order online. 

Joseph Beth

161 Lexington Green Cir B, Lexington, KY 40503

Ever since I was a little kid I’ve loved wandering around Joseph Beth’s bookshelves. They are a full blown book store, but also have a great assortment of gifts including Kentucky-themed items, decor, food and home goods. 

The Keeneland Shop

4201 Versailles Rd, Lexington, KY 40510

Keeneland is an obvious choice when you’re in Lexington, but their gift shop is worth a stop even when there’s no racing! They have nice quality men, women and children’s clothing, but also great gifts and pieces for your home. Think glassware, platters, books, candles, ornaments etc. 

Kentucky for Kentucky

The ultimate stop for the Kentucky lover. Kentucky for Kentucky makes Kentucky themed tees, hats and other gear, but they also have a great variety of prints, home goods, and even Kentucky candles. 

The Mousetrap

3323 Tates Creek Rd, Lexington, KY 40502

The Mousetrap was my very first job. It’s a deli and sandwich shop, but also sells gourmet food, kitchen goods and gifts. I like to shop there for fun food and stocking stuffers!

Peggy's where to shop local in Lexington

Peggy’s Gifts & Accessories 

112 Clay Ave, Lexington, KY 40502

If you’ve been around here a while then you’ve heard me talk about Peggy’s. It’s my go to for a gift for just about anyone.. they have cute clothes, jewelry, home goods, candles, kids items.. even a few food items. If you can’t think of what to get someone, just go to Peggy’s. They also offer free gift wrapping and make the prettiest bows!

Poppy & Pomelo

526 E High St, Lexington, KY 40502

Fun and eclectic gifts that appeal to a younger crowd. They also have great candles and host make your own candle classes!

Street Scene Vintage

This is for the vintage lovers, but even if you’re not into vintage I would tell you to check out Street Scene. They have an eye for finding the coolest things. They have a lot of clothing, but also cool gifts. I’ve gotten everything from art deco bar glasses to Christmas ornaments to a velvet and cane chair to vintage UK memorabilia from Street Scene. 

Stuarto’s Olive Oil

Stuarto’s is one of my favorite local companies. They make flavored olive oils, vinegars and artisanal sea salts. It’s one of my favorite gifts for the “person who has everything.” Try the butter olive oil with maple vinegar!

sQecial Media

sQecial is an independent book and gift store by UK’s campus. Think incense, beeswax candles, books you won’t find anywhere else in Lexington, tarot cards, essential oils, funny socks, puzzles etc.

Syers Browning

Syers Browning is one of my new favorites! They sell higher end gifts and home decor with unique pieces you can’t find anywhere else. Their selection skews more classic and upscale. If you need a gift to impress, I would go here! Syers Browning also has lots of home pieces and offers interior design services as well as wedding registry.

Worlds Apart

Worlds Apart offers clothing, accessories and gifts. They have more of an eclectic feel, kinda boho but in a mature way if that makes sense. My mom loves Worlds Apart!

House has great classic and neutral home accessories. Think topiaries and gold frames. I got some really cool world map prints from them a few years ago I still love. They also have great Christmas decor and offer custom florals and wreaths.

Paxton Home

Paxton Home offers monthly warehouse sale events. They have great quality furniture, accessories and gifts at a great price. You can also shop “Paxton Pickup” Instagram from home if you can’t make a sale.

Room Service

933 Liberty Rd, Lexington, KY 40505

My favorite place to look for home treasures! Room Service is a home consignment store that ranges from furniture to china and serving ware to decor. They have more high end options and very affordable finds as well.

Scout Antique & Modern

935 Liberty Rd, Lexington, KY 40505

Really cool antique and vintage furniture and home goods. Scout skews a little more high-end and is well curated by different vendors. I’ve found great stuff there!

Where to Shop in Lexington for Women’s Clothing

Just a note, I know prices are important when talking about clothing so I tried to rate pricing on a scale of $-$$$$ for least to most expensive, but it definitely varies. I also tried to include an age range for reference, but please don’t let me put a damper on your style or put anyone in a box based off of their age! 

AJ’s Casuals

AJ’s is a higher-end boutique that offers great designer brands like Tory Burch, Vince, Tibi and a lot of other brands you can’t find elsewhere in Lexington. They probably tend to skew younger, but do have a good mix of cooler, edgy and more classic pieces so could appeal to anyone from college student to 60s.

Cotton Patch

Growing up we always went to the Cotton Patch to pick out an outfit for my mom for Christmas. It’s a women’s boutique that probably skews a bit older, but they have a good mix of styles and I always find pieces I love there too! Good for nicer dresses. Could appeal to anyone from late 20s to 70s+.

Morton James

Morton James offers a great mix of trendier, more boho pieces and classic, more staple fashion. Skews younger college student to 50s.

Peplum is one of my favorite places to shop when I need something new and fun! I feel like they do the balance between trendy and classic really well, which is just my style. Appeals to a wide range from college student to 40s.

Pirie has fun fashion at affordable prices. They have a good mix of casual and dressy pieces. I also love shopping at Pirie for gifts, they have cute accessories/candles etc. Skews more young, high school/college student to 30s.

Logan’s is my go to for guys. Dave got all his suits for our wedding events there. They also have brands like Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide, Barbour and Peter Millar.

This is a great locally-owned pet store that makes their own proprietary pet food. They also have all sorts of pet supplies, treats and a dog washing station.
