Our dear friend Sister Schubert sadly stopped making her sausage rolls. They were like a pig in a blanket, but inside a parker house roll.. aka delicious. Long story, but I ended up with an extra tray of Sister Schubert rolls and was trying to think of something fun to make with them for Super Bowl when it dawned on me to try and recreate the beloved Sister Schubert’s Sausage Rolls. It was actually so easy. I used an apple corer to cut a hole in the middle of the rolls, and stuck smoked cocktail sausages (or Lit’l Smokies) inside. You could also use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke the holes. You just place the stuffed rolls back into the ban and bake!
You could stop there, but I decided to kick things up notch by brushing the rolls with some melted butter and everything bagel seasoning, I also made a spicy honey mustard sauce for dipping, but you could really use any mustard or whatever sauce your heart desires.
